Roads & Passes
About & method
What Roads & Passes is, where the data comes from, and what we do and do not claim.
What this is
Roads & Passes is a presentation layer over official state Department of Transportation road-condition feeds. It exists to answer one question on a phone before a winter drive: is my route drivable, how bad is it, and can I see it.

What we claim, and what we do not
Every reading is the DOT's own reported condition, stamped with when we retrieved it and attributed to the source, with a link to the official 511 site. We never editorialize safety and we never fabricate a reading. When a feed goes stale or dark, we say so rather than show an old number as current. We are a presentation layer, not a safety authority; for the official word, follow the DOT link on each page.
